Many of us feel bogged down and are so sick of winter.
Turning towards things that make us feel like we are feeding our sense of beauty, slow living, and child-like wonder is the antidote!
I’ve been watching Jane Austen favorites. Picking out a fancy new cake to bake. Dreaming about the future on desert mountain walks with my beagle and husband. Listening to dreamy music, reading fiction about romance. Making nicer cups of tea. Dreaming about entertaining. My rose garden. A hot tub someday.
Romanticizing things can
Be incredibly useful. I’m an actor. I know. . .
I worked the Ren Faire last year. Am
I a queen? Not in this lifetime. Wearing court dresses however and helping knight little kids in fairy wings and carrying plastic swords. . . It felt very real. And I’m doing it again this year much to my own surprise.

I’m sewing my own court dress this year. It being my ‘sophomore year’ on the royal court as the Queen’s main lady I feel more prepared and excited! I have favors to give to favorite people on staff/cast. I get to reunite with my lovely fellow actors and people I enjoyed last year.
It’s lovely having little glimmers of anticipation for the fun things you plan.
Something grounds me while fussing over floral arrangements for an event or fantasizing/planning for future travel!
What’s interesting is my escapism helps he so much happier in the day to day and able to function. When there’s no joy life starts to feel tedious and less meaningful.

So bust out the good plates. Wear the glitter. Write in the new journal. Let yourself try new things. Be willing to fail. Experts aren’t made from perfection.
Fresh flowers are it.
Spring clean. . . I use good smelling products.
Wear a fancy robe. Put on the music. Imagine yourself in different eras and places.
Be the star of your own life.
